Welcome home
Integrative and Housing Support for Refugee Families
Through the Welcome Home program, we support families with refugee experience who live in Warsaw and are at risk of homelessness. The main goal is to support participants in achieving self-sufficiency within two years. By self-sufficiency, we mean housing stability, exiting the risk of homelessness, and acquiring the necessary skills and competencies key to functioning effectively in Poland.
Who is this program for?
The program is designed for families who meet all the following criteria:
- Families with children: at least one legal guardian and one minor child.
- Residence status: holding refugee status, subsidiary protection, tolerated stay permit, or a stay permit for humanitarian reasons in Poland (at least one adult must possess one of these statuses).
- Place of residence: in Warsaw.
- Housing situation: experience the risk of homelessness.
- Employment situation: at least one adult is employed or actively seeking work and can undertake permanent employment.
- Willingness to cooperate: a desire for active engagement in the integration process.
What support does the program provide?
- Individual cooperation: two years of individual support, tailored to the family’s needs.
- Specialist support: ongoing assistance from an integration specialist who accompanies the family in their active work towards self-sufficiency, acting as the family’s guide in the integration process.
- Housing support: primarily implemented through subsidies for rental costs.
- Learning Polish: families benefit from individual Polish language lessons conducted by a volunteer, and they can also participate in recruitment for Polish courses run by the foundation.
- Additionally, program participants have the opportunity to utilize the foundation’s other initiatives, such as the Help Center for Foreigners, career counseling, or a tutoring program for children.
How to apply for the program?
Each year, we conduct a recruitment drive for new families to the program. The application form is published on the foundation’s website and announced in the news section. Recruitment is divided into three stages:
-
- Application via the form.
- Interview.
- The Commission reviews applications that meet the formal requirements and invites families with the highest number of points to participate.
